Imagine a pair of crossed polarizers with transmission axes vertical and horizontal. the beam emerging from the first polarizer has power pp1, and of course no light passes through the second polarizer, i. e. pp2 = 0. a third polarizer is inserted in between the two elements, with its transmission axis at 30 to the vertical. calculate the fraction of pp1 that is transmitted through the whole setup
