Two sections, A and B, are 5 kilometers apart along an old, 3-meter-diameter riveted-steel pipe. A is 125 meters higher than B. The water temperature is 20 degrees Celsius, and the pressure heads measured at A and B are 7.5 meters and 78.7 meters, respectively. Assume that minor losses are negligible.

a) Determine the flow rate through the pipe using the Darcy-Weisbach Equation.

b) Determine the flow rate through the pipe using the Hazen-Williams Equation.

c) Determine the flow rate through the pipe using the Manning’s Equation.

d) Compare the results.

Hint: Consider what effect the condition of the pipe will have when deciding on the appropriate roughness and coefficients.
