Problem: design the following rectangular floor beam for a building.
Some design information are given parametrically:
A = first two digits of your student ID.
B = last three digits of your student ID.
The beam has a simple span of A ft. The uniform service load is B lbs/ft live load. Consider the self-weight of the beam as dead load.
Assume f’c = 4,000 psi, fy = 60,000 psi, and #3 stirrups.
Required:
a) Conduct a free-beam design for the above conditions.
b) Sketch the final design showing a cross-section (ACAD or clean hand-sketch).
