Steam enters a turbine at 300°C and 10 bar and exits at 200°C and 1 bar. Kinetic and potential energy changes are negligible. The turbine is well-insulated. How much work is produced per unit mass?

(a) If the mass flow rate is 5 kg s-1 and there is a heat loss of 100kW, how much work is produced, in kW? Start from the control-volume conservation of energy and document the assumptions made to produce the solving equation.

(b) A turbine produces 1.2 MW of work with an inlet state of 100 bar, 600°C, and an outlet pressure of 10 bar. Determine the outlet temperatures for mass flow rates of 10, 50, and 100 kgs-1. Neglect any heat loss
