At a sudden contraction in a pipe, the diameter changes from D1to D2. The pressure drop Δp that develops across the contraction is a function of the diameters, the velocity V2in the smaller pipe, and the fluid density rho and fluid viscosity μ (assume the fluid is incompressible). Use the repeating variables D2, V2, and μ to non-dimensionalize the remaining variables and determine a suitable set of pi terms. Show work and explain in detail why would it be incorrect to include the velocity V1in the larger pipe as an additional variable?
