(a) From potential flow, the velocity distribution is given by, = 2Uo sin(%) U (x) 2Uo sin () (b) From actual experimental measurements by Hiemenz, the velocity distribution is given by, U (x) U(1.814f - 0.271f3 - 0.0471f5) In the equations above, Uo is the free-stream velocity, R is the radius of the cylinder, x is the arc length along the cylinder's surface, and 2 = x/R is the dimensionless arc length.
