A steel wire sample originally 5.00mm in diameter is drawn through a series of dies at room temperature to a diameter of 3.50mm. Calculate the percentage of cold work associated with this amount of wire drawing.
Your goal is to produce 1.10mm diameter wire from 5.00-mm diameter stock for a wire rope application. If you tried to draw the 3.50mm diameter wire from above any smaller at room temperature it would fracture. So, mathematically show the processing steps you would use to make your 1.10mm diameter steel wire from the 5.00-mm diameter stock. The final diameter needs to be 1.10mm diameter. Key calculations are an important part of your answer.
