A given mass flow rate (m1) of an ideal gas flows through an adiabatic compressor operating at steady state. The compressor has an adiabatic efficiency of N. The gas has a molecular weight of MW and a specific heat ratio of k. The compressor inlet is at P1 and T1 and the compressor exit is at a pressure of P2. Determine the following given the properties listed below and assuming constant specific heats. m (kg/min) = 0.2
MW (kg/kmol) = 37.2
k = 1.37
N (%) = 87.2
T1 (C) = 21
P1 (bar) = 1.5
P2 (bar) = 5.75

Required:
a. Determine the exit temperature (C) if the compression process was isentropic.
b. Determine the actual exit temperature (C) for the compressor.
c. Determine the specific heat (kJ/kg-K)for the gas.
d. Determine the rate of heat transfer (kW) for the compressor.
e. Determine the power input (kW) for the compressor.

Air (c-1.006 kj/kg.k, r-0.287 kj/kg.k) enters a nozzle steadily at 280 kpa and 77Β°c with a velocity of 50 m/s and exits at 85 kpa and 320 m/s. the heat losses from the nozzle to the surrounding medium at 20Β°c are estimated to be 3.2 kj/kg. determine (a) the exit temperature and (b) the total entropy change for this process. solve this problem using constant specific heats.
