A concrete wall, which has a surface area of 20m^2 and is 0.30m thick, separates conditioned room air from ambient air. The temperature of the inner surface of the wall is maintained at 25°C, and the thermal conductivity of the concrete is 1 W m⋅K . Required:
a. Determine the rate of heat loss through the wall for outer surface temperatures ranging from −15°C to 38°C, which correspond to winter and summer extremes, respectively. Display your results graphically.
b. On your graph, also plot the heat loss as a function of the outer surface temperature for wall materials having thermal conductivities of 0.75 and 1.25 W/(m*K). Explain the family of curves you have obtained.

Apiping systems consists of 6 m of 6-std type k and 12 m of 4-std type k, both drawn copper tubing. the system conveys ethylene glycol at a rate of 0.013 m3/s. the pressure drop across the system is to be calculated. there are two 90° elbows in the 6-in pipe, a reduction from the 6-in pipe to the 4-in pipe and four 90° elbows in the 4-in pipe. all fittings are soldered (same as flanged) and regular. the inlet and outlet of the system are at the same height.
