Although uncommon in other engineering disciplines, the centimeter-gram-second (cgs) system is particularly popular in bioengineering, especially to those who study lung physiology. One of the evaluation books that I had for the course, "Principles and Models of Biological Transport", 2nd ed., by M. H. Friedman, used the cgs system exclusively in the book. The base units of the cgs systems are (partially):
mass: gram (9) β’
length: centimeter (cm) β’
time: second(s). The unit of force in the cgs system is a dyne (dyn), and the unit of dynamic viscosity in the cgs system is poise (P). Determine:
