There is a mixing chamber connected with a valve. The chamber has two inlets and one exits. Liquid water at 200 kPa and 20 °C is heated in a chamber by mixing it with superheated steam at 200 kPa and 200 °C. Liquid water enters the mixing chamber at a rate of 2.5 kg/s, and the chamber is estimated to lose heat to the surrounding air at a rate of 1200 kJ/min. The mixture leaves the mixing chamber at 200 kPa and 70 °C. Assume steady state and ignore kinetic and potential energy effects. Assume there is no work or heat involved in the valve. Required:
a. If take the mixing chamber as the control volume, please list the simplified energy conservation equation for this CV.
b. If taking the mixing chamber and the valve as the combined control volume, please list the simplified energy conservation equation for this CV (leave it in symbolic form).
c. What is the mass flow rate at state 2?
d. There is a valve at the exit of the chamber to reduce the pressure to 20 kPa, determine the temperature at the exit of the valve

Water in a partially filled large tank is to be supplied to the roof top, which is 8 m above the water level in the tank, through a 2.2-cm-internal-diameter pipe by maintaining a constant air pressure of 300 kpa (gage) in the tank. if the head loss in the piping is 2 m of water, determine the discharge rate of the supply of water to the roof top in liters per second.

Atank with constant volume contains 2.27 kg of a mixture of water phases (liquid-vapor). in the initial state the temperature and the quality are 127 °c and 0.6, respectively. the mixture is heated until the temperature of 160 oc is reached. illustrate the process in a t-v diagram. then, determine (1) the mass of the vapor in kg at the initial state, (2) the final pressure in kpa.
