Refer to the scraper performance chart in Peurifoy Figure 8.8 & 8.9. Change the scraper’s empty weight to 80,000 lb on the charts. Fully loaded it carries 50,000 lb of soil. This scraper has low pressure tires and will be using a well maintained earthen haul road with a rolling resistance of 60 lb/ton. On the haul portion of its cycle it will be climbing a 4% slope. Copy Figure 8.8 & 8.9 and show how you read them. a. When the scraper is fully loaded, what equivalent total resistance must it overcome on the haul (% equivalent)?
b. What gear will the scraper be in during the haul?
c. What is its speed during the haul?
d. On the empty return trip what will the equivalent total resistance be (% equivalent)?
e. What gear will the scraper be in during the return?
f. What is its speed during the return?
g. If the total haul distance is 0.75 miles one way, how long will it take the scraper to complete one cycle? Assume 2 minutes to position and load and 1 minute to position and unload. Allow time for acceleration and deceleration for 200 ft. at the start and end of the haul and return trips.

I put pictures of the charts.

Air is to be cooled in the evaporator section of a refrigerator by passing it over a bank of 0.8-cm-outer-diameter and 0.4-m-long tubes inside which the refrigerant is evaporating at -20°c. air approaches the tube bank in the normal direction at 0°c and 1 atm with a mean velocity of 4 m/s. the tubes are arranged in-line with longitudinal and transverse pitches of sl- st 1.5 cm. there are 30 rows in the flow direction with 15 tubes in each row. determine (a) the refrigeration capacity of this system and (b) pressure drop across the tube bank. evaluate the air properties at an assumed mean temperature of -5°c and 1 atm. is this a good assumption?
