Consider a damped mass on a spring driven by a sinusoidal, externally applied force. (This is called a driven, damped harmonic oscillator and is common in aeroelastic structures like wings.) The resonant frequency in rad/s of this type of oscillator is: ω= √k/m- c^2/2mk

where the spring constant in N/m, the mass in kg, and the damping coefficient in kg/s are typically aspects of your system you can design. However, due to manufacturing variability, you do not have exact control over c. Instead c, k and m are independent and normally distributed with mean and standard devation as follows:

μ σ
c 2.6 0.34
m 9.84 1.42
k 17.3 1.85

Required:
Use MATLAB to simulate N=10000 random samples of the resonant frequency wr given samples from the above random variables, and compute the 5% and 95% percentile of the resonant frequency.

Aloaded platform of total mass 500 kg is supported by a dashpot and by a set of springs of effective stiffness 72 kn/m. it is observed that when the platform is depressed through a distance x = 12.5 cm below its equilibrium position and then released without any initial velocity; it reaches its equilibrium position in the shortest possible time without overshoot. find the position and velocity of the loaded platform 0.10 sec. after its release. if a further load of 400 kg is added to the platform, find, i) the frequency of damped vibrations, and i) the amplitude of vibration after 2 complete oscillations, given that the initial amplitude is 15 cm.
