A shaft that rotates at 520 RPM cw is supported by two bearings at A and B placed 1 m apart. The shaft has the following diameters: dA=45mm, dB=50mm, dC=52mm and dD=60mm. A 600 mm diameter pulley is mounted at a distance of 300 mm (at C) to the right of the left hand bearing and this drives a pulley directly below it with the help of belt. Another pulley 400 mm diameter is placed 200 mm to the left (at D) of right hand bearing and is driven with the help of electric motor and belt, which is placed horizontally to the right. The wrap angle of both pulleys is 180° and the tension ratio is 9. Assume that the torque on one pulley is equal to that on the other pulley. Each bearing has an axial force that is approximately 45% of the radial force and it is fully supported by each bearing. Neglect centrifugal forces. A power of 28 kW enters through pulley D and exits through pulley C. Determine the radial force at Bearing B (in Newtons - at least one decimal)

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater

Water vapor initially at 10 bar and 400 °c is contained within a piston-cylinder assembly. the water lost heat to the surrounding according to isochoric (iso-volumetric) process until its temperature is 150 °c. the water is then condensed isothermally to saturated liquid. for the water as a system, calculate the work in kj/kg
