Un profesor explicando un ejercicio ha considerado al cloro como gas ideal, argumentando que como dicho gas según el ejercicio está a una temperatura de 50 ºC y a una presión de 6000 Kpa, si lo considera como gas ideal el error que comete es inferior al 2 %. Al acabar la explicación, un alumno pide la palabra y le dice al profesor que se ha equivocado, que en esas condiciones el cloro no puede ser gas ideal porque el error que se comete al considerarlo así sería bastante mayor. Demuestra numéricamente quién tiene razón, el profesor o el estudiante.
