After Beowulf died, the Geats built a tower in his memory and by his request so he could be immortalized. This extravagant tower acted as Beowulf’s tomb and took ten strenuous days to construct. Inside the tower, the Geats sealed Beowulf’s ashes, making sure to place them as close to God as possible. Along with Beowulf’s ashes, the Geats had sealed up the immense treasure and spoils that Beowulf had earned and collected over the years. After the tower’s construction, Beowulf’s 12 appointed “bravest Geats” honored his glory by spreading stories of the heroic and noble King Beowulf.
