1. American civil war, also known as War Between the States, was an armed conflict between the southern and northern states that took place between 1861 and 1865. The war broke out in April 1861 as a result of the controversy of the enslavement of black people. Shortly after the inauguration of Lincoln as the 16th president of the United States, forces bombarded Fort Sumter.

2. The American civil war, was the deadliest conflict in American history, between the southern and northern states of North America. The northern states wanted to make their own country and leave the United States, while the northern states wanted to remain united as one country.
