A hometown hero is a selfless individual. It is a person who acts when others are in need in order to fulfill their sense of satisfaction - they require nothing but gratitude in return, rather than a monetary compensation. Hometown heroes range in many small jobs impactful neighboorhood-wide; from a local police officer, to a humble firefigther.

Lydia, the veterinarian next door, lives up to her duty even after work-hours at her clinic.
