Bud, not buddy, what is the reason bud gives for so many people falling asleep in the library?

In chapter 7 of "Bud, Not Buddy, " Bud believes that the reason so many people fall asleep in the library is because of the smell of paper from the books. Upon entering the library, he can smell the powderey smell of paper, and imagines that it puts them to sleep.
