How has americans' understanding of wolves changed over the past 100 years?

As time went on, wolves have been seen as fierce creatures. Way back one hundred years they were found in vast numbers through America. They were very common in great plains and it was never uncommon to see one. They were hunted to almost extinction before the Endangered Species Act of 1973. After the law was passed, of course there was still some illegal hunting, wolves reappeared in Yellowstone. I'm sure before when they were more common people just compared them to coyotes. They are far more advanced than that, they're more built for hunting than running. They also unlike Coyotes hunt in packs of 6-10 instead of 3-4. They also are constantly moving, unlike common thought that wolves settle. Hope this helps some!
