Hi. i need with this assignment about a poem written by edgar allen poe titled "the man of the crowd". i have to find a bit of evidence and have to have justification for a few claims that were written on the paper. they go as follows. 1. claim: the protagonist of the story is obsessed with "reading" others' physical appearance, as opposed to viewing them as individual thinkers, because he is not content with his own consciousness and individualism. 2. claim: the old man that the protagonist follows represents the dark aspects of his consciousness that he cannot escape, the man is not real, but a projection of the narrators gloomy past. 3. claim: as the night progresses the protagonist begins to focus more on the street walkers face and the more dangerous the people of the streets seem to be, insinuating that the closer the narrator judges the people, the scarier he becomes. 4. claim: the more the protagonist follows the man, the less people occupy the street, indicating the more judgmental humans become, the more isolated they are. 5. claim: the monstrosity of mankind, seen through narrator, is not in the ones other judge as monstrous, but in the judgement itself. 6. claim: the story does not provide a name for the cafe, the town, nor the narrator to highlight that the feeling the protagonist has toward the old man at the end is the same feeling the reader has towards the protagonist. any is appreciated. : )
