The Exclusionary Rule is a Constitutional Law based principle that states that the evidence that is obtained illegally by law enforcement officers in violation of a suspect’s right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures cannot be used against that suspect in any form of criminal prosecution. The Exclusionary Rule can be used when the evidence is obtained by illegal sources, because it violates the person's Fourth Amendments rights and legally can not be used in trial.
