read this excerpt from anne frank remembered. at that moment, a german man followed koophuis, and i heard him say in german, "turn the keys over to the young lady." then the man returned to kraler's office. koophuis came to me, handed me the keys, and said, "miep, see to it that you stay out of this." i shook my head. jo koophuis' eyes burned into mine.
