150 word or more of the dictionary thesaurus and glossary and why we use it

Thesaurus- a thesaurus or dictionary of words with the same or nearly the same meanings, or synonyms, and their opposites, or antonyms, such as Thesaurus.com, available on the Internet or the World Wide Web, accessed through a web browser, and used by entering a query term into a search box on the site.

Dictionary- it is important to consider several advantages in the use of dictionaries. In the very early stages of learning, even an inadequate bilingual dictionary can provide an important support and be a quick reference book. In language learning/teaching process the importance of using dictionaries cannot be denied.

Glossary-A glossary is a list of terms: words, abbreviations, acronyms,etc., used frequently in a written work, giving the term and its full name, or its contextual meaning. The writer uses it to avoid the necessity of writing the full name or explaining the meaning every time it's used. The reader uses to find the meaning of unfamiliar terms or usages.

Here is why we use them  

1. read the following excerpt from franklin d. roosevelt's "fireside chat 19":

on the other side of the picture, we must learn also to know that guerilla warfare against the germans in, let us say serbia or norway, us; that a successful russian offensive against the germans us; and that british successes on land or sea in any part of the world strengthen our hands.

remember always that germany and italy, regardless of any formal declaration of war, consider themselves at war with the united states at this moment just as much as they consider themselves at war with britain or russia. and germany puts all the other republics of the americas into the same category of enemies. the people of our sister republics of this hemisphere can be honored by that fact.  

the true goal we seek is far above and beyond the ugly field of battle. when we resort to force, as now we must, we are determined that this force shall be directed toward ultimate good as well as against immediate evil. we americans are not destroyers — we are builders.

analyze the effectiveness of this excerpt. how does it function within the speech as a whole? how does the structure of the excerpt to convey the speech's purpose and key points? support your argument with evidence from the speech. (10 points)

i would say that it is a bad thesis because it doesn't explain what the health risks are. it seems to be a very vague thesis statement. thesis statements need to set up for the entire essay. it needs to give the reasons why people need to stop drinking diet soda.   so, i would say that it is a bad thesis.
