There are many ways in which the author Charlotte Brontë was able to reflect her own life and circumstances in the character of Jane Eyre. One of the most important ones is that both women were orphans, as Charlotte lost her mother at five. Afterwards, she lived in a boarding school that made her unhappy. Both characters were also left to care for others (Charlotte for her father and Jane for Mr. Rochester) and they both worked as governesses. Moreover, both women were intelligent, educated, resourceful and ahead of their times. This is an example of how authors sometimes include details of their personal lives in their works.
