When the young boy is hanged, a prisoner asks, “for god's sake, where is god? ” eliezer hears a voice answer, “where he is? this is where–-hanging here on this gallows.…” what does this statement mean? is it a statement of despair? anger? or hope?

I believe it is a statement of anger. Because the prisoner feels that because a little boy was hung, humanity is heartless. And Eliezer out of anger basically says.." Where is he..? Where IS HE? Our goodness hangs there with the boy, and they no longer care of God."
