However, part of their importance lies in the social criticism that he included in the novels. He often dealt with topics that would be considered progressive, such as labour rights, the alleviation of poverty, children's rights and education.I would classify him as a realist. The main reason for this is that Dickens was realistic when he looked at the problems of society. He realized what the deficiencies of society were, and he was willing to fight for improvement. This is a realist approach to life and society.
