The correct opinion is that contact with native populations is rarely an even exchange; the native people are usually exploited in some way. This is a common occurrence throughout history as the native population are taken advantage of because of their lack of knowledge or lack of technology.  

It is difficult to maintain a positive relationship with native people, so colonizers should leave them alone. Native populations are better off left alone than indoctrinated into a colonizer's culture
