Sherman alexie's purpose for writing  this book was to recount his story and impact those individuals who do feel different that there is the expectation and that they can overcome intense circumstances. he used his childhood on the reserve as a boy with hydrocephalus to inspire the story, self deprecating himself using humor and hyperbole to make it funny and informing instead of a depressing and pitiful novel.-hope i i recently finished the quiz on edgenuity
