"there is no secret"

there is no secret to my name

no myth that i should hide,

there is no password or code,

it’s not as solid as ice,

it doesn’t drift upon the wind,

or float the sea with ease,

there is no rhyme or reason,

no melody to sing.

it does not give me special power,

nor does it weaken me,

it does not label me or have much meaning,

it’s really not a thing.

my name is here like a shadow,

to give me a blanket of existence,

shelter me,

feed me,

clothe me,

i do not complain.

boo or hiss like the rain,

but smile like steel

to show the me inside the beast,

proud i’ll be of my name.
