Read the passage from “part of the stew.” new orleans was very different from the northern cities we knew so well. here, people of different nationalities didn’t live, work, and shop within their own little settlements separate from the others. instead, the city was a wonderful mix that i jokingly called a stew, my friend jean paul called a bouillabaisse, and my neighbor miguel dubbed a gazpacho. when my family first arrived, i would make up any excuse to go to the shops around the town square just so i could enjoy the colorful sights and sounds of the people. some were fresh from canada, germany, or the caribbean. others hailed from france, spain, or africa. there were also quite a few native people. it truly was an exciting place. what does the narrator’s point of view reveal about his feelings about new orleans? he feels overwhelmed by the many nationalities. he feels inspired by the mix of people and cultures. he feels out of place because it is different from northern cities. he feels confused by the mix of different settlements.
