Briefly describe bourdieu’s concept of bodily hexis. how does this concept a) differ from habitus and b) relate to language and culture?

The concept of bodily hexis is refer to the frequent use of gestures and body positions; the tendency to hold some particular accents and postures.

Explanation:

a) The habitus by Pierre Bourdieu encompass the hexis (related to, as we said before, body positions) and, also, more abstracts mental habits such as skills, thoughts, feelings, appreciations, and actions.

b) Bourdieu thinks that every person have a particular habitus, conformed by the mixture between the individual position in the social structure (high class, working class, etc.) and his personal intuitions  and perceptions. In Bourdieu's opinion these habitus structure the opportunity of jobs in the adult life of every person and, even, in his future life.  

This is very important if we talk about culture and language because during centuries ‘‘the high culture’’ has been a distinction of the high class too, and, in the same way, the linguistic correction, the ‘‘speaking well’’. For Bourdieu, at the end, this habitus helps to the reproduction of the same historical social structures.
