Before jane goodall, scientists hadn't had much success at observing chimpanzees.
therefore, little was known about them. then goodall was chosen to go to tanzania and
study chimpanzees for two years. some people didn't like that goodall was chosen, since
didn't have much background in science. however, goodall went to tanzania and
became close with a group of chimpanzees there. because the chimpanzees accepted
her, she was able to observe things about the chimpanzees that no one else had before
for example, she found that chimps use tools, eat meat, and even have a simple kind of
language.
