Ineed writing a letter in (hamlet's character) to ophelia.
prompt:

hamlet is a highly conflicted character. in fact, it is his internal struggle that drives the play “hamlet.” for this assignment, you will imagine you are hamlet. you will write a letter to your love interest, ophelia, telling her why you have been acting so strangely lately and explaining the inner conflict you feel. you just lost your father and then watched your uncle flippantly marry your mother immediately after--taking your rightful throne in the process. how out of line!

now, you are constantly struggling with the desire to avenge your father’s death by killing your uncle and taking the throne back, but you just cannot seem to take action.

you might also want to tell ophelia know that you are thinking a lot about her lately, and that people think you are insane because you are smitten. but actually you are pondering death constantly. you see the ghost of your dad all over the place, pick up your old court jester yorrick’s dirty skull from his grave, and well, talk to it. your ophelia is very worried.

you are wondering if all the trials and tribulations that life puts humans through are even worth it in the end.

your letter should have:

1. a correct salutation.

2. minimum two paragraphs (8 sentences total) that describe your conflict to ophelia.

3. detailed evidence from the text of “hamlet”.

4. a correct closing that tells ophelia what she can do to you.

5. an appropriate sign off and signature.
