happiness

do you ever get that random surge of happiness? like when you are laughing with your friends, or you got good news, or when you find the full version of the cantina lego star wars song that you can full on vibe

sometimes i get that feeling. that feeling only lasts a couple seconds, and then reality rears its ugly head and brings me back down to the challenge called my life. i relish that happy feeling all i can because sometimes weeks can pass before i get that feeling again. one time, out of many times, me and my friends were cracking up at artichoke dust. for some reason we found it so very funny at that moment. were we just laughing at how everyone hates us when we bring it up? were we laughing because the thought of it existing, which it does, because, like, imagine people using artichoke

but that happy feeling was short-living. like i said, reality reared its ugly head. i remembered how i have to be successful and get a job or whatever so i don’t live on the streets.

our table quieted, and there was nothing to talk about. we ate in silence. i sat there and thought, did reality rear its ugly head at them too, and pulled them back into the real world like gravity does on a trampoline?

maybe we all had that happy feeling at that moment.

but maybe we all knew that laughing like maniacs wasn’t gonna get us anywhere in life.

Read the excerpt from chapter 34 of the awakening. "fine fellow, that lebrun," said arobin when robert had gone. "i never heard you speak of him." "i knew him last summer at grand isle," she replied. what becomes apparent during this conversation? robert and arobin are both aware they are rivals for edna’s affections. arobin is unaware of robert’s role in edna’s life, but robert is aware of arobin’s role. robert is completely unaware of arobin’s romantic intentions and love for edna. robert has much more confidence in himself than arobin does.
