Theoclymenus was a seer from Argos who was absconding from his village after he killed a man from his own race.

It is appropriate that Telemachus treat him well for his treatment depends n what the seer will say about his future.

Homer's epic narrative "The Odyssey" tells the journey of the protagonist Odysseus on his way back home to Ithaca. Telemachus, his son whom he left while he was still an infant, had started out on his own to search for his father.

In Book XV, we see Minerva advising Telemachus to return to Ithaca and wait for his father. He also met with Theoclymenus, a seer accused of killing his own people and thus on the run. When he met Telemachus, Minerva advised Telemachus to treat the seer with utmost reverence and importance for he can see the future and may be of help to him. His ability to interpret omens may also be of great help for Telemachus and his men on their way.
