The Ramayana, like Homer's Odyssey, is an epic poem that recounts the adventures of a hero who goes into exile and eventually returns home to regain his rightful throne. While away from the place of the familiar, Rama and Odysseus meet strangers who help or threaten them, who endow them with powers or test their strength and virtue. Consider the many similarities between Rama and Odysseus. What makes them both epic heroes? How do their encounters with the unfamiliar or their wanderings test and help to form their characters? Do they display love in similar or different ways?

There are lots of similarities between the two characters, but also so many differences

First of all we can mention that both stories The Odissey and The Ramayan are stories that come after a war story such as The Iliad and The Mahabharata.

Both stories are focused on the main character's journeys. Both stories mention and represent, nor only their journeys but also their relationship with their wives.

Both characters show duty and honor, they show courage.

Both wives, Penelope and Sita are the image of a perfect and loyal wife, who always waits for her husband and respects her relationship.

However, they have some differences, because Ramma can be seen as an exceptional husband, he respects his wife and never cheats on her, on the other hand, Odysseus is not like that, he cheated on his wife with Calypso. We can say that Rama is the ideal man, but Odysseum is more realistic.
