And make his father angry.He also felt superior about himself than other boys around him.As he grew older and maturer he found out that there is much more to life than what he has done in the past.He wanted to fix his past but it was a little to late to get things back on track.

When the author asks himself a series of questions, it conveys the way he thinks and where he stands.at least that's what i believe.
