Skateparks have become increasingly more popular with young people who crave physical activity but who are not involved in team sports. On the contrary, they have become one of the most hotly debated topics, for many see them not only as a waste of tax payers' money but also a serious threat to the safety of those who frequent them.
After carefully reading and annotating all three articles, write an essay in which you argue whether skateparks should be allowed and why skateboarding should or should not receive the same level of respect as other organized team sports.

Here's what I have so far:
Skate parks should be allowed in cities and receive the same amount of respect as other sports. Having a skate park is great for many reasons. To name a few, it reduces illicit behavior and has significant mental and physical health benefits. Some people think that skate parks are the breeding ground for inappropriate activities and crime, but they're not that at all. Having a skate park allows kids something to do, when a child has nothing to do and nowhere to go, that's when the trouble begins. By giving kids a place to do something positive, you're already helping them along the right path in life. Occasionally there may be a troublesome bean in the pod, but what is one compared to many?
Eric Klassen, the director of the program Skate Pass, says that while skateboarding helps with eye-foot coordination and balance, it also improves performance in the classroom. It also helps reduce damage to private property. Most injuries come from uneven surfaces along with cars and pedestrians; skateboarding is going to happen no matter what you do, so why not give kids a safe place to do so? Having a skate park gives kids an excellent place to follow their passions safely.
