A student is writing an article claiming that collaboration and cheating are not the same. The student wants to revise the article to make sure that the claim is clear. Read the first paragraph of the article and answer the question that follows. Many students find it hard to distinguish between collaborating with another student and cheating. Both collaborating and cheating require a transfer of knowledge between two or more people. In both cases, at least one of the people may be able to fill gaps in his or her knowledge. Why, then, do we view collaboration in a positive light and cheating in a negative one? Which sentence should be added to the article to make the claim more clear? A Because it is so hard to tell the difference between collaboration and cheating, neither should be allowed. B This article will explore an hypothesis that clearly answers this question. C We view collaboration positively because sharing knowledge is the intention from the outset. D Cheating is viewed negatively because one person learns something new from another person.
