Metaphors, like similes, help shape an idea in the reader's mind. Metaphors can be stronger than similes because they don't use "like" or "as." They don't beat around the bush. They come right out and say it! They link things together directly.
Which of the following sentences is a metaphor?
A
The breeze smells of smoke.
B
“Listening to him talk is so exhausting that you need a nap afterwards,” she sighed dramatically.
C
The snake slowly blinked its amber-colored eyes.
D
The thief was a wolf on the prowl.
