Read and annotate Margaret Atwood's "You Fit into Me" and then post answers to the following questions.
1) Who is the main speaker?
2) For whom is the speaker writing the poem? What evidence do you see for this?
3) How does the poetry use imagery to make you feel the experience in the poem?
4) Where do you see patterns of repetition? In shape, in language, in image? What effect does this achieve?
5) What has the speaker realized (or not realized) by the end of the poem? Where does the poem take you, and how do you get there? Most poems include a turn, or an "aha" moment, when the poet makes a shift toward discovery.
6) Choose one poetic element that you think plays a big role in the way the poem delivers its meaning (imagery, rhythm, lineation, or stanzas for example). Explain how you see this element working in the poem and what meaning you get from the poem because of it. (This should be a healthy paragraph. Try to insert at least one example from the poem).
7) What is one question you have about the poem?
