Based on the historical context of this novel, why is Mitchell more concerned about consequences than Paul is?
Mitchell has a long history of getting into trouble with his family, so he has good reason to be worried about getting
into trouble now.
Mitchell comes from a family of sharecroppers on Paul's father's land. If Mitchell's father loses his job, the family
will have to find somewhere else to live.
