Anne expresses her disapproval of all that has been happening around her. She has no one to play with hence she feels lonely without friends. She wanted to become a journalist but because of Hitler's orders she had to leave school.

She feels as if she is being drifted away from the world. She names her diary kitty and writes in it every day to express her feelings.

Her father is the only one in the family who understands her.
