In Charlie’s April 27th journal, he records an argument between Dr. Struass and Dr. Neumur, he writes that:
“Dr. Nemur said that Dr. Strauss was nothing but an opportunist who was trying to ride to glory on his coattails”.
What does it mean to “ride on someone’s coattails? Is this literal or figurative language? What does it mean?

dramatic irony occurs when the reader/audience knows more about a character's situation than the character does. the one main effect is that it gives the reader a sense of superiority, or detached superiority. the reader not only seemingly discovers what is revealed, but feels superior for doing so.

conflicting values are demonstrated between two different groups in animal farm. first, the farm animals value hard work. this is shown by them working late and working long hours at the request of the pigs. napoleon and the pigs, however, sleep late daily. furthermore, the animals value equality. this differs from the value of napoleon and the other pigs. instead of equality, they value only gaining power and maintaining their own privilege, which is demonstrated by their taking extra milk and sleeping in beds.
