I think that the purpose of Holden's question to Sally was to see if she felt the same way he feels. "Did you ever get fed up" When he says that I think that he means "do you actually like school" because Holden, is probably bored or scared during school because of his PTSD. So he was probably wondering "does Sally feel the same way?"

In this case Sally probably doesn't get fed up because she doesn't feel the same way about certain things like Holden does. She probably has a better outlook on life that he ever will.
