Ponyboy belong to the Greasers class meaning from the lower social class, whereas Socs belonged to the upper social class. Over the course of novel, Ponyboy's view of Socs and Dally changes.

•Initial: Initially Ponyboy's attitude towards Socs was that of hatred because of how they used to treat greasers.

•Force of Change: After Ponyboy meets Cherry at the movie theater, his views regarding Socs begins to change. Moreover, after having a talk with Randy and hearing his speech, his thinking towards Socs begin to change.

•Attitude Change: That was when he develops na shift in his attitude and realized that Socs are humans just like greasers and they too have problems.

Ponyboy Opinion of Dally.

•Initial: Ponyboy didn't liked Dally mainly because he was Socs and was a mean person.

•Force of Change: Ponyboy started having a shift in his opinion regarding Dally after he met with an incident where Dally helped him to escape the difficult situation and knowing the fact that Dally cared his brother Johnny.

•Attitude Change: Eventually, Ponyboy developed a positive attitude for Dally for everything he did to help him, and that was when he realized why Johnny admires Dally so much.
