In 1969, the Apollo Il space mission brought humans to the
moon for the first time. American astronauts Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the surface of the

national goal set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and
was, in part a response to a race with the Soviet Union to
