Symbolism is a tool used to add depth to a piece of text. For this assignment, you are going to analyze symbolism in a work. You may choose a poem, a piece of art, a song, a movie (excerpt or short), a short story, or a novel excerpt. Picture books often have lots of symbolism too. The Scarlet Ibis (search this up and put pdf next to it)

Explanation:

The Scarlet Ibis represents Doodle, the main characters brother. In the novel, the Ibis dies from things they can't control, they also die far away from home in a place unfamiliar to them.

A coffin symbolises societies views and assumptions on disabled people. In the novel, the coffin was made because everyone assumed Doodle would die young. They were wrong though and Doodle lived years past the time it was made

The color red is also a prominent theme that represents pride, danger, blood, and death.

each year on this day, i make it a point to listen to dr. martin luther king jr.’s great “i have a dream” speech. it’s electrifying every single time.

the content of dr. king’s speech, his inspiring presence, and the moment in history all came together to make the iconic “i have a dream” speech the defining moment of the american civil rights movement. but there are several other reasons why this speech, delivered over 50 years ago, remains an example of one of the best speeches in american history.

since part of my job is to people become better presenters, i’ve noticed several techniques that we can all learn from and be inspired by in this magnificent speech.
