Stage of Hero’s Journey
Summary of Each Stage
Directions - Create an outline for your hero’s journey by writing 2 to 4 sentences describing what happens in each stage of your story.
Ordinary World -
The hero exists in a world that is considered ordinary or uneventful by those who live there.

Call to Adventure
The hero is called away from the ordinary world. Most heroes are reluctant to leave their homes, friends, and family, but in the end they accept their destiny.

Accepting the Call
The hero advances to the next stage of their journey.

Refusal of the Quest
The hero hesitates because of fear – something happens to further tempt the hero to take up the challenge.

Entering the Unknown
The hero enters a world they have never experienced before.

Tests & Trials
The hero goes through a series of tests, a set of obstacles that make them stronger, which prepare them for the final showdown.

Supreme Ordeal
This is the greatest test that the hero must pass in order to succeed in the journey.

Reward & The Journey Home
There is a reward given to heroes for passing the Supreme Ordeal.

Master of Two Worlds/Restoring the World
Success on the hero’s quest is life-changing for them and others.
